West Point Grey
Some of the most spectacular views in all of Canada

With some of the most spectacular views in all of Canada, West Point Grey is truly one of the most enviable neighbourhoods in British Columbia. Pride of ownership and pride of community are reflected throughout this historic area. West Point Grey boasts three times the average "park space per person" of any area in the lower mainland.

Housing
The first zoning bylaw, passed in West Point Grey in 1922 prevented the development of anything except detached homes and their related outbuildings. Obviously, the zoning bylaws have changed since that time but the majority of dwellings in Point Grey are still single family detached homes, with prices in the upper range.

Location
West Point Grey, built mainly on a north facing slope, offers spectacular views of the ocean, city and the north shore. Park space - Jericho Park, Locarno Beach and Spanish Banks - runs along the beach front north of 4th Avenue, while the majority of residents are located south of 8th Avenue.

Shopping
10th and Alma - offers an offbeat mix of antique and collectibles shops interspersed with coffee bars and small restaurants.

Farther up 10th Avenue - one of the main routes to the University of British Columbia - there is a more utilitarian mix of retail shopping including coffee bars, local restaurants, grocery stores and upscale fashion boutiques.

Transportation
Access to the downtown core is readily available. The need for good public transportation to UBC, located to the west of Point Grey, ensures this area has regular bus service. Access and arterial roads for automobile traffic are good and biking routes provide another option for those commuting downtown.

Recreation
The magnificent Pacific Spirit Park offers over 55 km of walking trails for nature hikes, dog walking, biking and horseback riding, spread out over a 1,885 acre area.
