Mt. Pleasant West

Mount Pleasant West is one of the city's fastest changing communities with many first time homeowners, young professionals, and a growing number of young families now calling it home. This infusion of youthful energy and community spirit has transformed one of Vancouver's original suburbs into one of its hippest, most vital locales. In the past ten years, a number of small shopping centres, restaurants and grocery stores have sprung up along Main, Cambie and Broadway to serve the new arrivals. And, to feed their minds, elementary and secondary schools, a community college and technical institution are all close at hand.

Housing
This community has changed dramatically with the revitalization of the Cambie Corridor and the South Main Street strip. There has been a surge in the restoration of character homes, the development of new town homes and cutting-edge low-rise condominiums featuring innovative designs that combine work/live and retail spaces.

Location
Mount Pleasant West is home to historic Vancouver City Hall. It's close to Vancouver General Hospital and much of the area is traffic-calmed, creating quiet streets within walking distance of trendy boutiques and award-winning local restaurants. You'll also have quick access to beaches, downtown shopping and entertainment districts.

Shopping
The Cambie Corridor features City Square, which offers a Safeway, a Fitness World and a number of small retailers and offices. Cambie also boasts grocery stores like Capers and Choices, and coming attractions that include Whole Foods and Winners. The South Main area is brimming with charming shops and galleries featuring unique work by Canadian designers and artists. And to round things off, Broadway is also lined with retailers, like Mountain Equipment Co-op, and restaurants, such as Cactus Club, adding to the diverse array of amenities the area has to offer.

Transportation
You'll be well-served by public transit with easy access to bus stops and the Skytrain. Should you want to get around on your own, Broadway, Main, Cambie and 12th Avenue are the major streets running through Mount Pleasant West, giving residents many ways to zip around town. And with the creation of the Canada Line and its Cambie and Broadway station, getting to Vancouver International Airport is a snap should you need to travel.

Recreation
Take advantage of the bike streets and dog friendly parks in the area. Go shopping. Or sit and relax on a patio, at a pub, gelato shop or one of the many coffee houses. In short, Mount Pleasant West offers a wealth of stimulating and tasty homegrown attractions that will fill you with a refreshing creative energy and a grassroots sense of community.
